A good mid-17th century oak joined stool

The plank top with a solid moulded edge. The plain frieze above four turned legs one struck 'GG' joined by square stretchers. Excellent original colour and patina.
Length 49 cm., 19 in., Depth 28 cm., 11 in., Height 55 cm., 21 ½ in.
This is a very good example of a stool which would have been made in large numbers at this time as it was the most used form of seating. These stools resembled small tables of the period and many people now use them as occasional tables beside a sofa or armchair as they are the correct height.
