An 18th century, Italian, walnut, open armchair with original leather upholstery from the collection of the 17th Earl of Perth, Stobhall, formerly in the Folly
10973
The rectangular back and seat are upholstered in the original leather, which has expected wear, and is close nailed with two rows of brass studwork. The open arms, unusually, project from the back with a block and taper with scroll ends. They are supported by uprights with baluster turnings. The armchair stands on baluster, mushroom and ring turned front legs joined by central and side stretchers. The back legs are straight. There is some old worm damage but the chair is stable and usable. The leather is in the process of being conserved.
