Modern, painted hanging cloth, Longhouse vine, a mid-16th century design
10121
This mid 16th century multi vine design was discovered during renovations on a house in Kent. This is an extremely rare, complete example of Antique Work.
It is known that from a window of a house nearby, Henry VIII watched the Fleet sail for the "Field of the Cloth of Gold" in 1520. It is also known that Elizabeth stayed in the same house. Royal visits were often planned up to two years in advance and were preceded by a whole army of itinerant artists and craftsman to decorate in preparation of the royal entourage.
