10122
This original 16th century strapwork design is in the guest chamber of a house in Cornmarket, Oxford. The room was also known as "Shakespeare's Bedroom" and is believed to have been seen by William Shakespeare during a visit. Above the design is a frieze with inscriptions. These became very popular bearing in mind that most people could not read or write.
