Table, Farmhouse, Dining, Refectory, Oak, 18th Century Vernacular Folk, Country
11345
This farmhouse table exudes character which is an essential feature of vernacular furniture and is the best example of its type that I have seen. The thick, oak top is tactile and sculptural with beautiful figuring and an exceptional, lustrous patina. It stands well on the three splayed legs which complement the sculptural quality of the table which harmonises with period, modern and contemporary interiors and collections.
The exceptional, four plank top with cleated ends and two period, patinated patches probably replacing worm damage. Plain frieze. Standing on four square legs. Exceptional original colour and patina.
Measures: Length 229cm, height 76cm, depth 76.5cm
Provenance: Private Collection Edinburgh, Private Collection Cotswolds
The shown set of 6 Windsor armchairs were specifically purchased to be used with the farmhouse table and are available separately. They are very good examples of this model in exceptional, usable condition.
