The late-18th/early-19th century, silvered, plate is surrounded by an ogee moulding with fine figuring. The cushion frame has exceptionally large oyster-veneers cut to display the beauty of the grain to maximum effect. The edge of the mirror is faced with a double-beaded moulding, again with fine figuring. This mirror bears marks of originally having a cresting which, the surface on the back indicates, was removed some time ago. This is generally the case today as they were delicate and invariably damaged. There are minor cracks throughout the veneers as to be expected and some small areas of scattered loss and replacement
