A museum quality, late-16th/early-17th century, continental, oak chest depicting knights in armour

The plank top inset with two panels. The iron lock and one ring hinge original, the other ring hinge 18th century. Opens to reveal an interior with candle box extant, the lid removed. The front with four panels depicting knights in armour standing underneath gothic tracery architecture. Research needs to be undertaken to establish the date and attribution of the suits of armour. The sides panelled, bearing marks of handles which have been removed. Exceptional original colour and patina. Probably German or French.
